Clermont
Clermont is also known as the "Gem of the Hills" by local residents, as it is one of the few florida counties that has rolling hills. Much of central Florida is of rather flat terrain. Clermont is also known for its many fresh water lakes and canals.
Clermont is Located in South Lake County, approximately 25 miles west of Orlando Florida, and about 25 miles Northwest of Walt Disney World. With a population of 29,358 as of 2012 it is a growing community, which makes Clermont a great choice for local business opportunities and residential development.
The city is essentially residential in character and its economy is centered in retail trade, lodging, and food and beverage establishments, which are tourism oriented. The historic downtown district is still much as it was around 1960. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The Florida Citrus Tower, one of the first constructed Florida landmarks, is located in Clermont. The tower celebrated its 50th anniversary in December 2006.
With a variety of seasonal events that go on year round, you are sure to find plenty of family activities to keep busy. Craft shows are at each seasonal event and all are welcome to attend or set up your own booth. The City of Clermont has beautifully renovated the Jaycee Beach area to accommodate the Clermont Triathlon and the new Rails to Trails bike trail which extends from Clermont to Ocoee. Clermont is also the home of the famous Lake Ridge Winery!
